Ingredients:

  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 170 g softened butter
  • 30 g cinnamon

Instructions:

1. Step

In a large bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar and melted butter. Keep the mixture warm.

Sprinkle the yeast over the milk, stir and leave in a warm place for about 10 minutes to activate.

2. Step

Add 500 g flour and mix with a wooden spoon until just combined.

Cover the bowl with a kitchen cloth and leave to rise in a warm place for 1 hour to double in size.

3. Step

Add a cup of flour, baking powder and salt to the risen dough. Mix, then knead on a clean surface. Knead the dough for at least 10 minutes until it is smooth and not sticky. The dough should be smooth and elastic.

4. Step

Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1 cm thick. Trim the edges to make them sharp and even.

5. Step

In a medium bowl, combine the brown sugar, butter and cinnamon and mix well. Then spread the filling evenly over the dough.

6. Step

Once you have coated the dough with the filling, it''s time to seal the dough tightly. Starting from the short edge, roll the dough into a roll and pinch the end to seal it tightly. Place it fold-side down and trim the uneven ends.

7. Step

Cut the roll into equal pieces. Place the cinnamon rolls in the prepared baking tray, cover with a kitchen cloth and leave to rise for 35-45 minutes, until they have risen by about half.

8. Step

Once the cinnamon rolls have risen, bake them at 180 °C for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

9. Step

While the cinnamon rolls are baking, in a medium bowl, whisk together the cream cheese, melted butter, milk and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add the icing sugar and mix well until the mixture is smooth and not runny.

10. Step

Once the cinnamon rolls are baked, leave them to cool slightly (about 10 minutes) and then pour the glaze over them.
