Affogato is an Italian dessert that combines two simple ingredients: freshly prepared espresso and vanilla ice cream.

The word "affogato" literally means "drowned" or "submerged" in Italian. In this context, it refers to ice cream that has been dipped in hot espresso, creating a harmonious combination of flavours and temperatures.


This simple but extremely tasty dessert is popular all over the world for its unique combination of creamy ice cream and strong coffee flavour. We''re going to make it with a slight variation, adding a BAM salted caramel topping to the affogato.


The vanilla ice cream is easy to make using BAM ice cream mix to which we add BAM vanilla paste. It doesn't require any special apparatus or cooking skills, but the results are always stunning.


Caramel affogato is the ideal choice for summer days when you want a quick refreshment and to enjoy the taste of coffee, ice cream and delicious salted caramel.

1. Step

In a large bowl, whip the cream until almost firm and soft peaks start to form on the surface.

2. Step

Gradually add the ice cream mix while whisking. Continue with an electric mixer until the mixture is smooth and homogeneous.

3. Step

Add BAM vanilla paste. The vanilla paste will add a rich and sweet vanilla flavour to the ice cream.

4. Step

Place the prepared vanilla ice cream in the freezer for at least 40 minutes.

5. Step

When the ice cream is ready, take it out of the freezer and place a scoop of vanilla ice cream in each serving cup.

6. Step

Pour the BAM salted caramel topping over the ice cream.

7. Step

Prepare one scoop of espresso per person. Pour immediately over the ice cream and caramel. The espresso will cool quickly and create a pleasant contrast between the hot drink, the caramel and the cold ice cream. Serve immediately.
