Panna cotta means "cooked cream" in Italian .
The preparation of panna cotta itself involves very few ingredients and is essentially a simple mixture of cream, sugar and vanilla. Gelatine is added to the cream, sugar and vanilla mixture and the mixture hardens to create the creamy consistency of panna cotta. The final product will be a rich and silky smooth panna cotta, which can also be served in a glass.
Here is the best classic panna cotta recipe I know! Despite the dense texture created by the sweet cream, the panna cotta will be a perfect and light, not too sweet dessert that can easily be indulged in after a ''heavy'' meal. If you want to make an even lighter panna cotta, you can replace part of the sweet whipping cream with milk.
In addition to the basic ingredients, we have also used gelatine. But don''t let that put you off. If you think or have been scared off by the fact that gelatine is difficult to work with and requires a lot of knowledge, this is not true.

Just because it may be unfamiliar doesn''t mean it''s complicated - it''s really not. Just remember a few rules: the gelatine must be well soaked in cold water before use. Make sure it has softened really well before you dissolve it. Keep melting it until you have a smooth, lump-free mixture.
Let the panna cotta cool for at least 4 hours and success is guaranteed.
