Apple crumble is a classic and popular dessert that combines juicy apples with a crispy buttery crust. Its simple preparation and rich flavour make it one of the most popular homemade desserts.
With its intoxicating scent of cinnamon and baked apples, apple crumble reminds us of the homeliness and comfort of family moments with a hot cup of tea.
It doesn't take much time or special cooking skills to make, which means it can be prepared quickly when you're craving something sweet and homemade.
Its popularity also stems from the possibility of customising the recipe - different types of fruit, nuts or spices can be added, making each crumble unique and tailored to your preferences.
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Peel the apples, slice thinly and mix with the sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice. Spread the sliced apples evenly on the baking tray.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, oats and salt.
Add the cold butter, cut into pieces, and mix with your hands or a mixer until you have a crumbly mixture.
Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the apples in the baking tray.
Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
Serve warm, with ice cream or whipped cream if desired. Enjoy!
