Christmas
Christmas is a time to give presents to each other and to take time for ourselves, our families and our relatives. It''s a time of celebration, presents and delicious food, not least chocolate. Chocolate is almost indispensable at this time.
The history of Christmas
On Christmas Day, Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Nowhere is it accurately recorded that Jesus was born on 25 December, so some people assume that this date was chosen because it coincided with the date of Jesus'' conception. Different religions celebrate this feast in different ways, but in Slovenia the birth of Jesus is mainly commemorated with Christmas dinner and a visit to church.
However, the celebration of Christmas has its origins in times long before Christianity. At that time, many peoples celebrated the coming of the winter solstice or equinox at this time of the year. This is the day when the days begin to grow longer and the nights shorter again.
Nowadays, Christmas is also strongly associated with gift-giving. On the evening of 24 December, Santa Claus enters houses all over the world to distribute presents to hard-working children. The American tradition has also been "carried over" to Slovenia and other parts of the world - most children leave milk and biscuits for Santa under the Christmas tree or elsewhere on Christmas Eve. Every child looks forward to giving presents, because they are expecting a gift they really want. Do you still remember how anxious you were to tear the wrapping paper off your presents and rush to see what you had got?
Christmas chocolate sweets
Christmas is a time of giving, so we all go shopping and try to find the best possible gift for our loved ones, relatives and friends. But many people just don''t know what to buy at this time. The shelves are full of gifts, and retailers are bombarding us with discounts and great offers. But many people just can''t decide what to buy as a present in such a flood of offers. Often we find ourselves buying a gift for a person who needs almost nothing, which makes the decision about what to give all the more difficult.
But believe it or not, chocolate can be a great Christmas present. If you''re buying a gift for a child, you can be sure that you won''t go wrong with chocolate. Children are crazy about chocolate and any chocolate gift is more than a great choice for them. It''s just important to choose chocolate that you know the recipient will love. If you are buying a gift for an adult, you can go for more unique types of chocolate. We can choose to buy good quality dark chocolate, which we already know has many good effects on our bodies. We can also go for chocolates with additives such as chilli, pepper, coconut, various exotic fruits or even edible gold pieces. If that''s not enough, we can choose chocolate in more unusual forms. Chocolate in the shape of letters, bolts, cars, hearts, sausages and other interesting and funny shapes are available, and are sure to delight every recipient.
Of course, there are also classic Christmas chocolate gifts such as chocolate pralines, biscuits, cakes and neatly wrapped chocolates. These chocolate gifts are also more than suitable for gift-giving and are sure to please any true chocolate lover.
If you thought that only expensive gifts were appropriate at Christmas, you were wrong. The purpose of this gift is to show the other person that we love them and that they mean something to us. What better way to show that than with a gift that we know the recipient will really enjoy. Be honest - do you know anyone who doesn''t enjoy chocolate?
