Milk chocolate and health

milk chocolate and health

Maybe you think milk chocolate has no effect on health? You''re wrong, because it does.

When the word "chocolate" is mentioned, many people think of chocolate, which, because of its composition, is correctly called milk chocolate. It is certainly known to everyone in the world as the world''s best-selling chocolate, but it is also used by chocolate manufacturers to make other chocolate desserts and confectionery products that have taken the world by storm.

It is true that milk chocolate is not as well known for its benefits to the body as dark chocolate, for example. But milk chocolate certainly has a number of good effects on the human body, which are particularly pronounced when milk chocolate consumption is within normal limits. So, as with all things, moderation is important when consuming milk chocolate.

Effects on the brain

Scientists have found that milk chocolate has many effects on the brain. Believe it or not, some of the effects are even more pronounced with this sweet than with dark chocolate, which is considered to be the healthy chocolate that we can reach for without fear.

For example, recent studies have shown that milk chocolate boosts brain function even better than dark chocolate. A US study found that subjects who consumed 85g of milk chocolate performed best on tasks that tested verbal and visual memory. Other test subjects who consumed other types of chocolate (dark, white) performed worse on these tests. This suggests that milk chocolate has positive effects on some brain functions, such as memory.

Consumption of both milk and dark chocolate is also associated with better reaction times, which is probably due to the alertness induced by the caffeine, theobromine and theophylline found in chocolate. These substances make us more focused, alert and ready to work after eating chocolate, just like after a cup of green tea or coffee.

Chocolate also boosts mood and mental balance thanks to its phenylethylamine content (about 0.7g per 100g). The sugar content of milk chocolate, which is much higher than that of its dark counterpart, causes the body to produce higher levels of serotonin, also known as the happiness hormone. As a result, we feel better after eating chocolate. We feel more relaxed and happier, which is why chocolate is so popular among the fairer sex.

Other effects on the body

It has long been a misconception that chocolate itself is thinning and causes pimples. Recent research has shown that chocolate, when consumed in moderation, does not cause these problems. However, it is true that chocolate in large quantities can cause fatty deposits to build up on the body, so it is really important to use milk chocolate only as a treat and not as a food for everyday consumption.

Constipation is also a problem that can arise when chocolate is consumed in large quantities. Therefore, chocolate consumption is not recommended for those with constipation problems, as chocolate will only make their problems worse instead of solving them.

However, the ancient Aztecs knew that chocolate was also an aphrodisiac. They used it before going to visit their mistresses. So perhaps it''s not a bad idea to reach for the chocolate before you indulge in the pleasures of the bed. The combination of feel-good substances and aphrodisiacs is sure to brighten up the night between the sheets and make the nights long and passionate.
