Chocolate icing
Chocolate icing is one of those cake toppings that you really can''t go wrong with, because we''d be lying if we said that a cake covered in shiny chocolate could look bad. It''s a very easy way to brighten up the look of your cake and complement its flavour at the same time. We''ve prepared a short recipe for a shiny chocolate icing, which you can of course also use as a topping on other cakes.
For the icing you will need:
- 100 ml sweet cream
- half a cup of chocolate drops or chopped chocolate
- 3 teaspoons of corn syrup or 2 teaspoons of glucose
First, heat the sweet cream until it is almost simmering and add the chocolate. Allow the chocolate to melt for 2 to 3 minutes and then start stirring. Stir until the liquid becomes homogeneous and shiny. Add the corn syrup to the liquid chocolate and stir again until the mixture is completely smooth.
Place the bowl of melted chocolate in a bowl of cold water, as it needs to cool slowly to room temperature. Stir the mixture slowly (about 10 minutes) until it thickens. Our shiny icing is ready to pour over the cake. We''re sure your guests won''t be able to resist the chocolate icing on your cake.
