The cute and creatively decorated stalls full of sweets and sweet products will be the backdrop of our city again at the end of September. Sweet Istria 2015 is coming to Koper.
Sweet Istria
Sladka Istra is a traditional event that will, for the seventh year in a row, brighten up the Old Town of Koper. The international festival of sweets and sweet products attracts gourmets and curious people from all over the world to Koper every year. Visitors can taste more than 300 different sweet products at more than 150 stalls, enjoying both typical Istria desserts and those sweetened in other regions of Slovenia and the world. There is certainly something for everyone among the chocolate bars, pralines, cakes, tarts, hrostoli, cookies and numerous fruit baskets. Wine lovers will be served a variety of sweet wines and liqueurs.
Offer
In addition to the rich and colourful offer at the stalls, this year''s Sweet Istria will also offer a varied accompanying programme. Visitors will be able to choose from guided wine tastings, cooking and pastry shows, performances by local cultural associations, an art market and performances and workshops for the youngest children. This year, visitors will also have fun with a pancake baking competition and perhaps even a celebrity will take up the challenge.
Saturday''s events will be further enriched by the Dnevnik Humanitarian Run, raising funds for families with children with special needs. The sea will also be a busy place, as the Bay of Koper will be occupied by sailing boats competing for the Slovenian Cup in the Burin Yachting Club Regatta. The evening will be no less lively. The renowned Primorje musician Tulio Furlanič will be performing in Tito Square, where he and his guests will celebrate 50 years of music-making.
Sunday will be a bit more subdued, but still very interesting. During the day, painters will be creating and presenting their works on Semedelska Street as part of the 7th Painting Ex-Tempore and Open Studio. In the evening, the winners of the Sweet Istria sweet competitions and the Sweet Istria 2015 painting ex-tempore will be awarded with good music at Mandrač.
The last weekend of the summer will therefore be very varied on the Coast and perfect for a trip. See you in Koper on 19 and 20 September!
