Even though we know our mother well in principle, there is often a dilemma when buying a gift, because we don''t know what she really wants. If we ask her, she will probably say that she already has everything and that she doesn''t need anything. It will be so difficult to get an accurate answer, because it is hard for mothers to tell their children what they want. • Graphics: framed prints with quotes for your mum are also a nice gift.
• Kitchen gadgets: it'' s a rare mum who doesn''t cook, so cooking gadgets are sure to make her happy. You can buy her some new crockery, napkins, cookie cutters... Or you can give her a new food processor, which will save her a lot of time and energy.
• Family photoshoot: book a photographer and take family photos that will be the most beautiful memory of her birthday. Don''t forget to book a hairdresser and make-up so she''ll be glowing and feeling good in her own skin on the day.
• A photo book or photo album: what mum doesn''t love flicking through a photo album and reminiscing about the good days. Make her a photo book or photo album and include all the most beautiful photos.

While all of the above are great gifts and your mum will love them, the best gift for her is definitely taking the time to spend with her. And not just for her birthday and holidays... Take time for ordinary days too. The older we get, the less time we have, the less we spend with our mothers, so a gift like this will definitely mean the most to her, because for any mother, the company of her children is invaluable.

Organise some joint activities so that she can spend her birthday in her favourite company - the company of her children and loved ones. One great idea is to take her on a trip. Slovenia is beautiful and there is no shortage of beautiful locations, so there are plenty of options for a nice trip. You can take her to the Karst for a wine and ham tasting, to the seaside for a walk by the sea and a delicious seafood lunch, to Prekmurje for divine Prekmurje delicacies, to Bled for a kremšnita and a wonderful view from the castle... A trip into nature can be a great experience too. Or go to a theatre show together, maybe stand-up, or see a good film at the cinema.

You can also organise a little surprise party at home. Invite her loved ones, buy the drinks and prepare the food and don''t forget to tidy up at the end. That way, your mum can just enjoy good company and not have to do anything to prepare or clean up.
