A man (30 years old) from Leskovec wanted to commit a sweet suicide a few days ago. In one night he ate 20 chocolates, several litres of sweet cream and drank 6 litres of Coca-Cola. Shortly afterwards, he became hyperglycaemic (high blood sugar) and doctors were able to save him in time and stabilise his condition before he fell into a coma. Speaking to Jugomedia, they could not confirm but suspected that the man had tried to kill himself.

"It is not so easy to die from high blood sugar. The worst thing that could happen to a person is to fall unconscious. We have never had such a case with sugar overdose. We have had a number of cases where people have tried to kill themselves with mixtures of different drugs or have tried to commit suicide by overdosing on different sedatives. This is the first time we have recorded such an unusual case," said Nebojša Dimitrijević, Director of the General Hospital in Leskovac.
