Chocolate muffins with yoghurt are delicious and healthy chocolate muffins that even children will love to nibble on. Chocolate yoghurt muffins can be made when you''re running low on ripe bananas and you''re craving a good but light dessert.

Chocolate yoghurtmuffins are made with just eight ingredients:

  • White wholemeal flour: chocolate muffins made with this flour will be richer in fibre and nutrients than with plain all-purpose flour. Because of its mild taste, no one will even notice the substitution.
  • BAM Cocoa powder: for a rich chocolate flavour reminiscent of your favourite brownie.
  • Greek yoghurt: the trick to make chocolate muffins luscious but without the extra fat. Greek yoghurt also adds protein.
  • BAM chocolate: does it even need an explanation? :)
  • Honey (or pure maple syrup): the chocolate muffins in this recipe will be sugar-free, or we will use a natural sweetener. As honey is a liquid sweetener, it will add extra richness.
  • BAM vanilla paste: the use of vanilla paste will make the flavours even more intense. It goes perfectly with the basic ingredients of the recipe.
  • Cinnamon: in addition to its smell, it also delights with its pleasant taste.

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Lightly grease a standard 12 muffin tray with non-stick spray or line with paper cases. In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: white wholemeal flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, espresso powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in the BAM chocolate.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, yoghurt, honey, milk, oil and vanilla. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and add the wet ingredients. Stir gently until the ingredients are combined. Fill the muffin tins to about 2/3 full. Place a few more chocolate drops on top.

Bake the muffins for 18 to 22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the muffin is dry. Place the baking tray with the baked muffins on a wire rack. Allow the muffins to cool in the baking tray, this will take a good 5 minutes. Then gently remove them from the baking tray and place them on a wire rack to cool completely. Have a good run!
